Build Your Own (BYO) OHS Management Plan E-mail

BYO has been developed over ten years from practical experience in applying the information contained in this manual. It is based on the risk management approach to OHS hazards, which is required by most OHS legislation in Australia.

Overview of the Plan

The BYO Plan makes reference to the requirements of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Acts and Regulations of Australia, which are similar although they are not the same. Compliance generally depends on demonstrating a process of effective OHS risk management as well as specific controls for certain hazards.

BYO provides tools to help an organisation to comply with the OHS legislation in broad terms. It is impossible to ensure that a company meets every requirement of OHS legislation at all times but significant risks can be controlled effectively with appropriate information.

BYO Manual

The manual contains 23 sections covering all aspects of OHS Management Plans - what you need to know about OHS Management Systems and how you should compile information for your site in order to comply with legislation.

Each section contains critical information on policies, procedures, OHS hazard management and risk assessment, legislation, information to workers, auditing and a lot more.

There are sample documents to help you compile your own documentation and recommendations on how to proceed in each area including the responsibilities of various parties.

BYO CD

The CD contains the same information as the Manual in both non-editable (pdf) files and editable text (Word documents) for people who want to produce their own paperwork (policies, procedures, records etc).
