Home Products Build Your Own (BYO) OHS Management Plan Why does your organisation need BYO?
Why does your organisation need BYO? E-mail

No employer wilfully tries to injure an employee but lack of knowledge is not an excuse. The BYO Plan takes the guesswork out of developing a thorough and workable occupational health and safety system. It provides a step-by-step approach to implementing a site-specific health and safety program. It does this by helping you to identify site hazards and develop effective controls for risks that might arise from these hazards at your worksite. It also provides guidance on what is required to document each stage of the process. This is good business as well as being a defence in the event of an accident or incident. You may find that you need to add further documents relevant to your site to the plan. This is easy to do.

The application of the risk management approach for all types of risks is becoming increasingly important to reduce the probability that an organisation’s objectives will be jeopardised by unforeseen events. The focus is one of positive and directed due diligence rather than negative compliance and for many organisations this is a significant change in direction.

The BYO Plan is a lot more than an OHS manual. As well as the steps that need to be taken to cover the elements of a basic OHS management system it outlines a procedure for the implementation of your own schedule to ensure safety and health at work.

What makes BYO different from other packages?

We know that setting up systems can be time-consuming and expensive, especially if site personnel are not fully conversant with current OHS legislative requirements. The JK Group recognises this and provides a back service for a modest fee. Our highly experienced consultants can assist on-site personnel put together the necessary information in a fraction of the time it might normally take, without the worry of getting it wrong or losing momentum - or worse - finding that it doesn’t’ fit with current systems or doesn’t work.
